WONDAGURL’S “CONSCIOUS PLANET” WRITING CAMPS IN LA

SONGWRITING CAMPS AT MALIBU BLUE STUDIOS & DRAGONFLY CREEK STUDIOS FOR WONDAGURL’S “CONSCIOUS PLANET” ALBUM

 

WondaGurl as a founding member of CMC attended the very first virtual meeting with Sadhguru about Save Soil before it was launched which led to her offering to executive produce a compilation album to spotlight the movement. Subsequently, Sadhguru spent time in WondaGurl’s home studio in LA to kick off production and recorded poetry to be used as interludes in the project which was followed by two songwriting camps in Malibu in 2021 then 2023.

In December 2021, we held the very first CMC songwriting camp in collaboration with WondaGurl/Wonderchild Records at Malibu Blue Studios for a week long of creating music for the “Conscious Planet” EP executive produced by WondaGurl and CMC in support of the #SaveSoil movement. Together we invited over 20 producers, songwriters, topliners, musicians, artists and engineers to make music that will work tobring the threat of soil extinction to light to music fans worldwide.

On day one of the camp Sadhguru came and shared with everyone what the #SaveSoil movement was all about, enlightening those gathered on the urgent issue of soil degredation and extinction. Empowered with this knowledge, the songwriters were challenged to write music that shared this message but in a way that would resonate in contemporary music spaces.

 

 

The retreat was attended by Chronixx, Lila Ike, Protoje, UMI, Cocoa Sarai, Nami Ondas, Cory Henry, Larance Dopson, Jae Deal, M.I.A., Stacy Barthe, LosHendrix, Naika, Mannywellz, FWDXSLXSH, Kelissa and more.

The first camp gave us a solid direction, but we needed a second one to start to polish the demos off and create more songs. This one was conducted at Dragonfly Creek Studios in Malibu and was attended by UMI, LosHendrix, AriPensmith, Hamzaa, Natalie, August 08, Kali Claire, Rhyan Douglas, and Mustafa.
